CONTEXT: 

In the market there are cavotec brand reel equipment, both in mining companies and in companies working on roads or highways.

In these equipment, for the operation of the reel, a set of slip rings is used. 

This set of rings is manufactured with a system of phosphorous bronze rods with a brush at its end that allows the normal operation of the component.

PROBLEM:

When this system suffers overloads, due to the effect of temperatures, the necessary mechanical properties of spring are lost, which causes high temperatures in the set of rings causing electric arcs thus damaging the friction ring.

SOLUTION:

Prodin was asked to develop a solution for improving and standardizing the components to avoid this problem.

In a period of less than a month, a set of rings was designed according to the service currents, and a brush holder and a brush of graphite metal material were developed, which met the technical requirement of the equipment that is in service. Thus improving the components of the equipment in question.
