CONTEXT:

In the open pit extraction process, the use of electromechanical loading shovels is common. In the northern division of CODELCO some of these shovels needed an urgent replacement of RPC force bars. These bars are responsible for distributing the reactive compensation energy to the rotation, movement, loading, unloading, lifting or hopper lowering motors.

PROBLEM:

This type of lifting and replacement of parts and pieces can last up to 180 days due to its complexity. However, due to the urgency of putting the shovel into operation for continuity in production, the lifting and manufacture of more than 120 parts and pieces for the overhaul of the electrical room had to be carried out in the shortest possible time.

SOLUTION:

Prodin was assigned the task and the result was the replacement of all the parts and pieces of the RPC cabinet in less than a month.

This was done by matching or improving the quality of the original manufacturer in some products, responding with a complete cycle that runs from field surveying, engineering, manufacturing, quality control and delivery.
